On this #ParanormalTuesday, Mike and Wendy talk with Kendall Whelpton, longtime Ghost Hunters cameraman, and Vera Whelpton of Ghost Hunters Academy, about their investigation into a mysterious Mississippi home and the documentary they made about it, The House In Between.
Kendall's story starts with a Craigslist ad for a camera operator on a new ghost show. That show turned out to be Ghost Hunters on the Sci-Fi Channel, and he stayed through season 11 and beyond, working on shows including Ghost Brothers and Ghost Hunters Academy as a cameraman and director of photography. The couple also share their own experiences living in a converted historic hospital building.
The House In Between is a full-length documentary investigation into Alice Jackson's home in a small Mississippi town. Mike appreciates that it feels like watching a film rather than reality TV, with no "stay tuned after the break" teases. Vera explains that they wanted to focus on Alice and her story, something TV investigations often skip. As a nurse who had her own experience, Vera bonded with Alice, who is also a nurse.
They talk about the controls they used, the research they did that didn't make the final cut, and the Southern hospitality of the shoot, right down to the coffee. Even Alice's neighbor drops into the chat.
