#ParanormalTuesday - Dream Experiments

November 25, 2020

Stuck inside on a gray Wisconsin November? Then it's time to journey to the center of your mind. On this #ParanormalTuesday, Mike and Wendy kick off a series on dreams, and they're inviting you to take part.

The hosts start with the weirdest dreams they and their friends have had, including a high school dream so strange it has become a favorite family story, and the way time seems to stretch in dreams. Mike remembers falling asleep with the radio on and hearing an entire song in a dream, only to wake up before the real song had reached its first chorus.

From there it's into the big ideas. They walk through a simple three-step approach to dream analysis, remembering, analyzing, and then using what you find to face real fears, and they talk about Carl Jung's archetypes and the hero's journey that seems to appear in cultures all over the world. They also discuss Dr. Krippner's idea that everyone who dreams takes part in a kind of shamanism.

There's music too, with a song about sleep paralysis and that liminal, hypnagogic state between dreaming and waking.

Finally, Mike and Wendy set up a dream experiment: look at an image, think about one of the hosts, and send your dream reports to the podcast by email so they can be time-stamped. The results come next week. Sweet dreams!
