"There has been much sorrow here, a lot of suffering … things have been done that shouldn't have happened."

That's what the psychic medium was saying on Summit avenue in the Griggs Mansion during a séance in February of 1969. Reporters from the St. Paul Pioneer-Press were there at the behest of the building's owner, Carl Weschcke, who himself had seen different apparitions wandering the halls. "The house has a heaviness about it — like a ball and chain." The reporters heard the squeaking of footsteps up the stairs when there was no one there as well as thumps and knocks on the wall that they couldn't explain. After they described their experience, they finished the article by saying "There is no prize on earth that could get us to spend a single night alone in that great stone house that seems to speak in sounds we cannot explain or understand."

A study in Gilded Age opulence and Victorian era ghost stories, by 1890, 40 millionaires were living on Summit Avenue in St. Paul and some of them never left... Join us for this brand new 90-minute haunted history tour on Summit Avenue. Dare to uncover the secrets and mysteries that lurk in the shadows of this historically haunted street. This is not your average walking tour - this encounter with the paranormal might just leave you questioning what lies beyond the mortal realm.

The St. Paul Ghost Walk was developed by Mike Huberty, our company owner who was living in the Twin Cities and was already talking to local business owners about ghost stories in their establishments and decided to create a walking tour in 2016 that showcased the strangest historical stories in addition to their most fascinating of the paranormal experiences. Over the years, these stories has been expanded upon by Minnesota storyteller Dangerous Linda Lee, who has designed the Spirits of Summit Avenue route through new original research, interviewing the real experiencers and exploring historical records to give you St. Paul ghost stories no other tour has.
