St. Thomas Charlotte Amalie Ghost Walk
History haunts the cobblestones of downtown Charlotte Amalie. Step into their story.
THE WOMAN WITH THE CLOVEN HOOF
"One barefoot. One hoofprint. And the sound of her dragging cloak still haunts these streets."
If you ever walk past Fort Christian at night and hear soft footsteps behind you... stop. Not to turn around. Not to speak. Just stop.
Because if it's her, you'll want to be very, very still.
Some call her La Diablesse. Some call her "the cow-foot woman". This spirit wraps her form in old colonial silks, her face always hidden beneath a wide-brimmed hat. Some say she died in childbirth. Others say she was cursed by a jealous lover. But everyone agrees on one thing, she walks with a human foot and a cloven hoof, and she appears when the air is thick and still.
The brave, or the unlucky, might heard her whisper their names, only to turn and find no one there… except a single hoofprint stamped in damp stone.
In one story passed down by a local family, a young girl once saw wet footprints circling her porch after a rainstorm... one human, one hoof. Her grandmother's only reaction?
"Oh. She just needed shelter. You didn't bother her, so she won't bother you."
Come explore the haunted heart of Charlotte Amalie with us, where ghost stories aren't just folklore, they're family history. Hear tales of jumbies, duppies, and look for silent woman who may still walk the streets of the Virgin Islands' oldest city.
Are you brave enough to walk her path?
