Just southwest of Chicago, past the bend at Harlem Avenue, a street leaves the city to run through the outlying industrial towns of Bedford Park and Summit, and to villages further south and the heavily forested Palos division of the Forest Preserve District of Cook County. It is an old road, originally an Indian trail with its origins on the shore of Lake Michigan, in Chicago’s present-day Chinatown. The road takes its name from one of the most important events in American history and runs, too, through the imaginations of many, both skeptics and believers, for there is a magic along its path which generations have longed to hold—or tried to dispel. It’s a highway populated with ghost lights and vanishing hitchhikers--and a road flooded with the tears of laborers, murder victims and the countless mourners who have carried their dead to the seven cemeteries which flank it. That old road, built up by Irish workers on the Illinois and Michigan Canal in the 1830s and '40s, has established itself as no less than the magnetic center of Chicago's supernatural forces and is known today as one of the most haunted roads on Earth. That road is Archer Avenue.

Important Info
- You can find plenty of street parking on Cork Ave, Oak Grove Road or 76th Place across from the Justice Public Library.
- Walking is minimal and includes a pub stop
- Drinks and food not included, but will be available for purchase at the haunted pub stops
- Due to bus availability, sometimes the bus will not have a bathroom onboard, so please go before the tour or you will have an opportunity to use a restroom at a pub stop
- Feel free to bring your ghost hunting equipment, but please don't distract the group from the guide's stories.
- The buses are not wheelchair-friendly, but we have plenty of tours that are wheelchair-accessible, including in Lincoln Park and Prairie Avenue.

- Few roads in the world can rival the haunting reputation of Archer Avenue, an ancient Indian trail now known as one of the most haunted roads on Earth. Its ghosts include banshees, werewolves, phantom monks, and Chicago’s most famous ghost, the vanishing hitchhiker known as “Resurrection Mary,” who is said to have burned her ghostly hands into the cemetery gate.

Do you go inside any of the haunted buildings?
On this tour, we focus on building exteriors and outdoor spaces. Businesses and public places are open for you to visit during regular business hours. Otherwise we respect the privacy of individuals and organizations and expect that our guests do the same.

Do guests really see ghosts on this tour?
We can never guarantee a supernatural encounter, but we will explain paranormal phenomena such as cold spots and residual hauntings. What we do guarantee: Our local connections and dedication to research means you'll get authentic accounts — in all their shocking detail.

Can I bring my pet?
Service animals are welcome. However, for liability issues, please leave your furry friends at home if you don’t require their assistance.

Is this ghost tour kid-appropriate?
While our tours do not contain anything too graphic or inappropriate, we find that kids that enjoy history have the best time. You know your children and that's left up to you. We do not recommend bringing children in strollers because sometimes that can be difficult with larger walking groups.

What if I'm late or cannot find my guide?
We do our best to answer calls and emails as promptly as they are received. Please make sure to leave a voicemail with the city and tour time. We try to accommodate travel and weather issues, but our public tours cannot wait for more than 10 minutes. Reschedules are available if the date you are interested in is not sold out.

What is your cancellation policy?
Because this is a limited capacity tour, all sales are final. If we cancel the tour because of weather or another event, we offer a full refund.
We will do our best to accommodate rescheduling requests, but cannot guarantee changes because other tours and dates might be sold out.
