Zap! An electrical charge crackles across a mental box enclosing a gasping woman. You’ve just stepped inside Roy Hines’ barn in Camden, but now it seems you find yourself trapped inside the laboratory of a mad scientist. Your assumption is partially correct.
The Round Table Foundation, a parapsychology lab had its humble beginnings in the renovated barn in Camden in 1948. The foundation was a non-profit organization for scientific investigation of telepathy and extrasensory perception (ESP).
The woman in the box was psychic Eileen Garrett sequestered inside a Faraday Cage. Her task was to identify the moments when an electrical shock was administered to the insulated box. When the voltage coursed through the mental outside, although shielded within from any tell-tale signs, Eileen sighs indicated she could still sense the electricity.
This was just one of many experiments conducted by Dr. Henry “Andrija” Puharich, a scientist with CIA connections. Collaborators included famous psychics of the time including Peter Hurkos. The Hines’ Barn and later the Warrenton estate in nearby Glen Cove also attracted curious celebrities such as author Aldous Huxley.
Expect to hear more surprising stories like this one as well to learn more about a variety of local paranormal happenings. The weird tales include the strange goings-on at the Lord Camden Inn, some historic homes, and several other supernatural hotspots about town.

In 2022, Red Cloak joined forces with American Ghost Walks and tour developer Allison Jornlin refreshed the script with new ghost stories and supernatural tales.

We focus on building exteriors and outdoor spaces. Businesses and public places are open for you to visit during regular business hours. Otherwise we respect the privacy of individuals and organizations and expect that our guests do the same.
We can never guarantee a supernatural encounter, but we will explain paranormal phenomena such as cold spots and residual hauntings. What we do guarantee: Our local connections and dedication to research means you'll get authentic accounts — in all their shocking detail.
Service animals are welcome. However, for liability issues, please leave your furry friends at home if you don’t require their assistance.
While our tours do not contain anything too graphic or inappropriate, we find that kids that enjoy history have the best time. You know your children and that's left up to you. We do not recommend bringing children in strollers because sometimes that can be difficult with larger walking groups.
We do our best to answer calls and emails as promptly as they are received. Please make sure to leave a voicemail with the city and tourtime. We try to accommodate travel and weather issues, but our public tours cannot wait for more than 10 minutes. Reschedules are available if the date you are interested in is not sold out.
Because this is a limited capacity tour, all sales are final. If we cancel the tour because of weather or another event, we offer a full refund.
We will do our best to accommodate rescheduling requests, but cannot guarantee changes because other tours and dates might be sold out. As a courtesy, we offer an add-on called Peek Protect which will refund your tickets if you have an emergency and cancel your reservations at least 24 hours prior to the tour beginning, but we cannot make any adjustments to those reservations, those are ordered through a third-party and any changes will need to be processed through them.
